Preceded in death by infant son Kevin Dupre, parents Francis and Joyce Grubbs, brother David and sister Linda Zastrow.
Kathleen M. Grubbs was born in St. Paul Minnesota, on January 19th, 1944. She was a student at Mounds View High School.
Kathy married James A. Dupre in 1959 and as a very young woman started their family. The boys were born by mid 1962 and finally six years later the joy and blessing of a daughter. Many loving memories were made raising the family on the small farm in Centerville MN.
Later, as a single woman Kate had grown into and was admired for being fiercely independent. She went on to begin her first business Sha- Ri’s Beauty Salon LTD in the Medical Arts Building at 8th and Marquette in Minneapolis. Having great success came with obstacles and she decided to move up to Grand Marais, away from the city. It was there she opened salon Cartier & Co.
Change was desired and with that came the move to Duluth where she opened a yoga studio operating out of her home. Kate was certified ERYT-500 through the Yoga Alliance. She taught yoga to so many, even organizing and offering Yoga retreats in Puerto Morelos, Mexico. She traveled to so many places and would say "Enjoy and live each day to the fullest...I've lived a full life.”
Beyond beauty and yoga, she had so much love for traveling, music, dancing, creating, cooking, painting, digging in the gardens and being the best dog mama to sweet Callie.
Kate’s kind radiant spirit, and overwhelmingly consistent joy was felt by everyone she met. Her hugs were extremely warm and special and her ability to connect with people came naturally to her.
We are so blessed for having her a part of our lives for so many good healthy years.
We will be celebrating her life on March 8th, 2025 at Pier B Resort Hotel in Duluth from 1-to 5 pm
