SMC is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Clinical Services Director. This position will work closely with the CMO and DON to support high‑quality, efficient clinical operations from check‑in to check‑out. Key areas of focus include ensuring smooth day‑to‑day clinical workflows and supporting clinical QI/QA and risk management. The Clinical Services Director will also help us maintain compliance with HRSA and federal requirements while continuing to strengthen the safety, effectiveness, and accessibility of the care we provide.

Salary: $85,000-$115,000 per year, commensurate with educational background and experience

Summary:
The Clinical Services Director is an important member of the Sawtooth Mountain Clinic leadership team, responsible for managing clinical operations, ensuring compliance with HRSA and federal regulations, and driving continuous improvement in patient care. This role emphasizes risk management, clinical quality improvement/assurance, efficient operations, and strategic planning to ensure safe, effective, and equitable healthcare delivery.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Clinical Operations
o Optimize clinical workflows, staffing, and resource utilization to improve efficiency and patient access.
o Implement and continually optimize technology solutions (e.g. EHR).
• Strategic Assessment & Planning
o Conduct regular assessments of clinical performance and bottlenecks.
o Develop strategic improvement plans for clinical services aligned with HRSA requirements and community health needs.
o Lead initiatives to expand clinical services based on data and community feedback.
• Collaboration Across Teams
o Foster interdisciplinary teamwork among providers, nurses, and clinical support staff.
o Partner with finance, IT, and operations to align clinical goals with organizational priorities.
o Engage community partners and public health agencies to strengthen care integration.
• Risk Management
o In partnership with CMO and DON, manage clinical risk management policies to minimize liability and ensure patient safety.
o In partnership with CMO and DON, lead clinical incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action planning.
o Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and HRSA clinical risk management standards.
• Clinical Quality Improvement/Assurance (CQI/QA)
o Lead the Clinical Quality Improvement Committee and oversee continuous improvement projects.
o Monitor KPIs such as patient satisfaction, preventive care rates, and chronic disease outcomes.
o Implement Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles and corrective action plans.

Required qualifications:
• Minimum 5–7 years of leadership experience in a clinical setting, preferably within an FQHC or community health center.
• Expertise in risk management, QI/QA, and strategic planning.
• Strong leadership, communication, and data analysis skills.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations and multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred qualifications:
• Master’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing, public health, or related field.

Physical Requirements:
• Mobility to work in typical office setting and use standard office equipment
• Stamina to sit or stand for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours per day
• Strength to lift and carry up to 20 pounds
• Corrected vision and hearing within normal range to observe and communicate with patients and professional staff, in person and over the telephone, and to read printed materials and a computer screen
