Workshop description:
As the saying goes, “The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The second-best time is now.” Planting trees on your land is a great idea for many reasons, but if you haven’t done it before it can be a daunting task! In this workshop we’ll cover the basics of sourcing trees, site selection, tree choices, and best practices for planting and caring for trees. If you want to plant a few trees in your yard, or hundreds in your woodland, you’ll gain tips and tricks to help you succeed. This workshop is co-hosted by Cook County UMN Extension and Cook County Soil and Water Conservation District.
Participants are asked to bring a pair of work gloves if you have them to use during the hands-on practice portion of this workshop. Dress for the weather, we will be outside.
Audience: Woodland stewards, backyard tree enthusiasts
Cook County Soil and Water Conservation District prepared this workshop using Federal funds under award NA23NOS4730025 from the Coastal Zone Management Act of 1972, as amended, administered by the Office for Coastal Management, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), U.S. Department of Commerce provided to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for Minnesota’s Lake Superior Coastal Program.
