The Service Manager is a hands-on operational leader responsible for delivering exceptional guest experiences at Bluefin Grille while supporting the successful execution of weddings, private events, and group dining experiences. This position provides visible leadership during service, coaches front-of-house employees in real time, resolves guest concerns, and partners closely with culinary and restaurant leadership to ensure smooth, efficient operations. The Service Manager spends the majority of their time on the floor leading service, developing employees, and maintaining high hospitality standards. While restaurant operations are the primary focus of the role, this position also provides leadership support for events as business needs require. Key Responsibilities · Maintain a visible leadership presence on the restaurant floor, particularly during evenings, weekends, holidays, and other high-volume periods. · Lead pre-shift meetings, communicate reservations and priorities, assign sections and side work, and ensure the team is prepared for service. · Monitor the full guest experience, including greeting, seating, pacing, food and beverage delivery, table maintenance, and payment. · Coach servers, bartenders, hosts, and other front-of-house employees in real time, reinforcing service standards, menu knowledge, teamwork, and professionalism. · Anticipate service bottlenecks and coordinate with culinary leadership on timing, special requests, dietary needs, and service recovery. · Build genuine guest relationships, visit tables, respond promptly to concerns, and make appropriate service-recovery decisions within established guidelines. · Support employee onboarding and training, identify development needs, and provide constructive feedback to restaurant leadership. · Complete opening and closing duties, cash controls, shift documentation, safety checks, and required manager reports. · Support responsible alcohol service, food-safety practices, workplace safety expectations, and compliance with company policies and applicable regulations. · Coordinate breaks, call-outs, staffing coverage, and adjustments required to match business levels. · Communicate guest feedback, operational concerns, employee issues, and follow-up needs to restaurant leadership · Ensure restaurant cleanliness, organization and presentation standards are consistently maintained throughout each shift. · Monitor staffing levels throughout service and adjust floor assignments and labor to match business levels · Support inventory accuracy by communicating product shortages, waste concerns and ordering needs Events & Banquet Leadership · Provide on-site leadership for weddings, group meals, private dining, and resort events when scheduled or when additional leadership coverage is needed. · Review event details and banquet event orders, coordinate setup and service timing, and communicate with culinary and resort teams. · Serve as the on-site manager for assigned weddings and events, ensuring timelines, service standards and guest expectations are successfully met and executed · Assist with event preparation and coordination based on business needs, while maintaining restaurant service as the role's primary responsibility. Leadership Expectations · Lead calmy and confidently, set a positive tone, and remain engaged where the team and guests need support most. · Hold employees accountable in a fair, respectful, and consistent manner while recognizing strong performance. · Promote collaboration between front of house, culinary, events and resort departments. · Model Bluefin Bay’s commitment to warm hospitality, teamwork, professionalism and fun at work Qualifications · 2+ years of full-service restaurant experience, with prior supervisory, lead-server, banquet or management experience strongly preferred. · 21 years of age and meet eligibility requirements to be added to the company’s vehicle insurance policy. · Valid United States driver's license. · Strong communication and customer service skills. · Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. · Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to stay calm under pressure. · Demonstrate the ability to lead a team during busy service, make sound decisions and resolve guest concerns professionally. Physical Requirements & Work Environment · Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed · Occasionally needing to lift up to 50 pounds · Work may occur around hot equipment, food and beverage service areas, cleaning products, outdoor event spaces in changing North Shore weather.
