Oshki Ogimaag Community School (OOCS) seeks a passionate, innovative, and dedicated educator with a deep love for the outdoors and a genuine interest in doing work that honors, revitalizes and preserves the Anishinaabe language and culture.
At OOCS, educators collaborate in a culturally-rooted, interdisciplinary model, with small class sizes, that honors the whole child-mind, body, heart and spirit. Teaching is deeply connected to land, language, environmental stewardship, and outdoor learning in the forests and on the magnificent shores of Gichigami (Lake Superior).
In this role, you will:
- Support the mission of OOCS by creating a learning environment rooted in Anishinaabe language, values, and seasonal cycles
- Design hands-on, community-based learning that prepares students to become lifelong learners
- Contribute to the academic success and holistic wellness of future generations
We are especially interested in candidates with knowledge of Ojibwe language, traditional lifeways, and seasonal cultural activities—however, this is not a requirement, training will be provided.
