Hands-On Assistant Hotel Manager, The Harbor Inn

About the Position We are looking for a reliable, motivated, and hands-on Assistant Hotel Manager to help oversee the daily operation of our 14-room independent self check-in hotel. This is an active leadership role working closely with the General Manager, team, and guests. What You'll Do Daily Operations - Support the General Manager with daily hotel operations. - Inspect rooms and the property to maintain cleanliness and standards. - Assist with remote front desk, housekeeping, guest service, and other tasks when needed. - Identify and resolve operational, guest, and maintenance issues. Guest Service - Assist guests with questions, requests, and concerns. - Resolve issues professionally and help create a positive guest experience. Team Leadership - Lead by example and work alongside the team. - Help coordinate daily tasks and priorities. - Provide support and guidance to staff. - Help maintain standards for cleanliness, service, and professionalism. Property Care - Conduct property walkthroughs and report maintenance issues. - Follow up on repairs and assist with simple hands-on tasks when appropriate. Administrative Support - Support the General Manager with administrative and operational projects. - Act as Manager on Duty when scheduled. - Participate in a rotating on-call schedule and carry the hotel phone outside regular working hours when assigned. - Respond to guest or operational issues and use good judgment when deciding when on-site assistance is needed. - Record any time spent actively working outside scheduled hours. What We're Looking For Previous hotel, hospitality, customer service, or supervisory experience preferred (2 years) Dependable, organized, and comfortable taking initiative. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Detail-oriented with high standards for cleanliness and service. Flexible, team-oriented, and willing to jump in wherever needed. Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, kneel, and be on your feet for the duration of a shift. North Shore Spirit: A friendly, helpful attitude toward guests who might ask for the best spot for a hike or a local brew. Schedule Full-time. 40 hours per week The schedule may include weekends and holidays, especially during our busy season. Some flexibility in schedule is required based on hotel occupancy and operational needs. Participation in a rotating on-call schedule is required. The hotel is closed during November and April; schedule and hours may vary during these closure periods. Compensation $25–$28 per hour, depending on experience PTO Additional opportunities for increased responsibility and compensation may be available for candidates with strong hotel management experience.
