Spirit of the Wilderness is happy to host its fifteenth annual community art show from November 6 to the 29th, 2026 at the Johnson Heritage Post Art Gallery in Grand Marais.
All artists connected to Grand Marais are encouraged to register by October 13th. Two pieces of work are allowed.
This show is an opportunity for anyone in the community, amateur or pro, to share their artwork with the (Grand Marais) world! This year's theme is Winter Sabbath. All mediums are welcome!
The Art of Sabbath
Winter in the North is a time of survival: physically, mentally, and spiritually. How do we as artists deal with winter? By hibernating like bears? By ice fishing and sliding on the snow like otters? By moving south like loons? What helps us to not only survive, but thrive, in winter?
How do we rest, recover, and restore?
The concept of Sabbath is ancient. Different traditions practice Sabbath on different days, but each practice is marked by physical rest and spiritual reconnection. Show us how you do winter Sabbath — in paint, pastel, pencil, pottery, glass, fiber, photo, or wood.
The deadline for submissions is October 13. To register, email: spiritofthewildernessart@gmail.com
