In early 2026, quick commerce demonstrated that its post-festival momentum was more than just a seasonal spike, with January maintaining near peak demand levels seen during the festive quarter. Gross merchandise value (GMV) and daily order volumes continued to expand strongly, supported by deeper dark store penetration across Indian cities and a nearly doubling of monthly active users year-on-year. Beyond grocery, the mix has broadened rapidly, with categories such as fashion, mobiles, personal care and home goods growing significantly faster than traditional essentials, contributing to larger average order values. While leading platforms are improving productivity and scaling efficiently, there is widening divergence in operational performance across the competitive landscape. As quick commerce transitions from expansion to execution, the industry is increasingly defined by how effectively platforms convert scale into sustainable economics across diverse markets.
