Description: Summary/Objective: Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Program Director is responsible for overall supervision, leadership, and operations for the Cook County Community YMCA’s programs excluding aquatics programming. The Director is responsible for revenue growth, fiscal management, financial development, facility management, hiring, training, and supervision of staff. The position is responsible for demonstrating YMCA leadership competencies to ensure the mission, purpose, image, and core values of the Duluth Area Family YMCA are conveyed. Essential Functions: Overall responsibility for the Cook County Youth Development programs, as well as Health and Wellness programs Supervise part-time staff who are over seeing operations for day-camp, after school programs, youth programming such as dance, gymnastics, and Health & Wellness programs Develop and implement program operating policies and activities as required; develop cost estimates for future program needs. Recruiting, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs personnel and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff, improve quality of programs, and achieve goals. Ensure that programs operate within budgetary parameters established; if circumstances cause budget to exceed or create potential for budget to be exceeded, plan and implement cost reduction sops and arrange for increased funding from sources. Prepare and maintain administrative and business reports and records of the Programs; record all fee payments and prepare billing, late payments, and follow-up actions when necessary; review income and expense, statistical, and budget status reports to develop and maintain sound financial status of program; analyze problems in these areas and make recommendations to resolve them or take corrective action; prepare billing reports. Explore and develop grant or contract proposals. Conduct and gather data for reporting to different agencies. Act as the liaison between parents and program staff regarding parent or participant concerns and work as the key leader to ensure a safe, fun, and high-quality environment is provided in all areas. Collaborate with ISD 166 food service personnel, and custodians to meet program goals. Assist with the financial development of Annual Campaign. Maintain a superb overall facility appearance and ensure that related equipment is in good working order. Recruit and schedule children for related programs; maintain accurate records on children enrolled in the program to include their development, attendance, immunization, and general health; conduct program registration, and maintain appropriate files and waiting lists. Conduct marketing campaigns, maintain excellent public relations with parents, prospective clients, funders, universities, colleges, or community colleges. Qualifications: This position requires an Associate degree in related fields, Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent of two years’ experience creating, implementing, and managing high quality programming. Experience in a supervisory role with skills in recruiting, training, and staff management. A self-motivated, hands-on team leader with strong communications, networking, and collaboration skills. A high level of attention to detail and quality of service and facilities. Demonstrated commitment to high standards of customer service. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage several projects at once and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Polished, professional demeanor with excellent written and spoken communication skills. Demonstrated success in driving revenue and managing expenses. Essential Functions Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the branch and on the phone, contributing to member retention. Interviews and/or tours prospective members; sells memberships; completes merchandise sales. Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and to the YMCA. Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues. Applies all YMCA policies dealing with member services. Fold and hand out towels; maintain desk and lobby cleanliness. Fosters an inclusive environment appreciative of differences in the workplace. Work Environment This position operates mainly at the front desk of the building. Typical office materials are located here. This is the main area where members come to check-in, so there can be times where it can get busy and noise levels can rise. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a part-time position. The building is open weekdays and weekends and hours for shifts will depend on the needs of the front desk area. Travel This position does not require any traveling. Required Education and Experience Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills; detail-oriented. Ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds. Previous customer service, sales, or related experience; ability to multi-task. Basic knowledge of computers.
