How To Learn Guitar

Follow the link in the bolded text to find ten songs you can play with only four chords.Start off slow and speed up gradually as you get used to the rhythm. It can be frustrating how mechanical you will sound at first, but the more comfortable you get switching between the chords, the closer you'll be to rocking out on stage. Whether you're playing an electric or an acoustic guitar, the instrument is essentially wood and metal.

It's a whole lot more fun to play when you're playing a song that you can recognize and not just a set of chords or notes. Even better, 90% of music is made up of only 3-4 chords.

I’d say this is especially good, if you want to learn some playing styles as well. The other books on this list do get into how to play the different styles a little bit, but not nearly as much as this one (Except for the Gibson Boxed set, but we’ll get to that). So if you want to learn how to play some Rock songs and techniques and some Blues or classical, this one would be good to look into. All in all, this book seems very geared towards someone who wants to just have fun learning popular songs.

I do have to admit, it is nicer than just learning songs like “Mary had a little Lamb” which can be a drag. The guitar is best learned by watching, listening, and mimicking the techniques of others. Watching Stevie Ray Vaughn rip through a solo or seeing how Jack Johnson fingers your favorite song can be a great learning experience.
