What is Ecstatic Dance?
An intentional, judgement-free space for free-form movement without words.
An invitation to embodiment, fun, healing, flow, and play.
What's the general flow of the event?
7:00pm: Warm-up set with slower tunes. Stretching and moving into a deeper embodied awareness.
7:15pm: Brief opening circle. Grand Marais Ecstatic Dance will speaks to the intention and framework of the event. Everyone is asked to share their name and optionally share an intention for the dance.
7:25pm or so: Full set begins. The music generally starts and ends with a slower pace and intensity, with a peak in the middle.
8:30pm or so: Closing circle. We breathe together and have the option to share what arose for us during the dance and share community announcements.
Everyone is welcome to hang out, chat and connect after we close.
We encourage arriving for the warm-up set and opening circle. We think of it as an important transition into our co-created space where we can leave our days' activities behind and greet the moment more presently. And, you will never be turned away for arriving later!
• We encourage you to express yourself in movement. If you need to speak or have a conversation, we ask that you step outside.
• No photos, cell phones, or videos, please!
• Please remove street shoes before entering the dance space.
• Consent is a top priority. When requesting or engaging with others in movement, honor a “no”.
• Bring your own water.
• Bathrooms available across the parking lot at the Community Center.
Donations accepted but not expected.

In an effort to create an increasingly inclusive space we invite feedback of any kind.
Please message us with any input, concerns, or questions.
Also, please let us know if you'd like to create a playlist for a future dance or help out with social media.
