Part-Time Assistant Teacher and Substitute

Status:        Part-Time - 1 day a week and substitute partial or full days when needed

Cooperation Station Family Daycare is looking for someone who can work one consistent day a week to be with students while our director completes administration and program duties. The director may or may not be on site during this time but can provide support when needed. This position will also include occasional subbing when our lead teacher/director is out on planned or last-minute absences. 

We are looking for someone who:
- has a passion for working with children, especially younger children and infants
- can work one day a week from 7:30am to 5:30pm
- can sub for partial or full days when needed
- is comfortable working alone with 8-10 students between 6 weeks and 6 years



Assistant Teacher Duties:

Programming and Supervision:

- Provide mentorship and guidance to children, supporting their social-emotional,
physical, and intellectual development, healthy risk assessment, and community
building.
- Interact with children outdoors for extended periods of time.
- Respect and observe children’s interests. Intervene when needed to maintain safety. Enhance children’s play with language, materials and activities.        
- Interact with children frequently, affectionately, and respectfully.
- Attend to children’s needs, questions and requests.
- Assist the lead caregivers in providing direct care for the children and participate in
activities.

Professional Expectations:

- Understand and follow the mission statement and values statement.
- Create a welcoming environment and effectively communicate with parents and
families during drop-off and pick-up times
- Understand and adhere to all policies of Cooperation Station, including cleaning
standards, discipline, safety, and feeding.
- Take part in professional development to maintain appropriate certifications.

Additional Duties:

- Help assure compliance with the regulations and statues of the MN Department of
Human Services and best practices of early childhood education.

- Maintain certificates needed to be a licensed childcare provider (CPR and First Aid,
SUIDS, AHT and other required trainings for licensure)
- Assist with special events when available
- Prepare and serve food
- Complete general cleaning tasks when necessary (laundry, vacuuming, dishes,etc.)
- Participate in staff meetings and other meetings as requested
- Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

- Interest and/or experience working with children
- Pass a criminal background check
- Willingness to complete all training and certifications (can be completed between
hire date and start date)
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
