Author Timothy Cochrane is a local historian, anthropologist, and recently retired superintendent at Grand Portage National Monument.
His new book Gichi Bitobig, Grand Marais: Early Accounts of the Anishinaabeg and the North Shore Fur Trade chronicles live along the shore in the 1820s, based on fur trade journals and extensive research of the time period.
Cochrane will read and present from his book and take questions from the audience, as well as sign books afterwards.
